Empress Alexandra Feodorovna was particularly fond of vases made from three layered glass 'by Gallé's method'. It is very possible that she saw D.P. Lukin work on the Azalea vase, which was made in 1901, during her visit on 17 November 1901 to the Imperial Porcelain and Glass factories. This vase was in the Private Rooms of Alexandra Feodorovna in the Winter Palace until 1931.
