The coronation lunch took place in the Palace of Facets and lasted just one hour - from 3 to 4 o'clock. the Tsar and Tsarina sat on thrones to eat. The menu comprised the following dishes: rassolnik (meat or fish soup with pickled cucumbers), bortsch (beetroot soup), and pirozhki (meat pasties), followed by steamed sturgeon, lamb, pheasant in aspic, capons, salad, asparagus; and for dessert, fruits in wine and ice-cream.
