Vasily Pavlovich Gurianov was an icon painter with a large workshop in Moscow and was also a supplier to His Imperial Majesty. He created icons for many of the churches in the Feodorovsky Gorodok. The Feodorovsky Mother of God was highly revered by the Romanov family, and this icon hung in the Alexander Palace.
